Nairobi's construction sector is showing signs of recovery as the value of building approvals significantly increased in the first five months of 2026. This surge follows a decline experienced in the previous year.

• The value of approved buildings in Nairobi County rose by Sh18.24 billion to Sh84.14 billion between January and May 2026.
• Data was released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
• Residential projects saw the largest increase in approvals, up by Sh9.7 billion to Sh61 billion, driven by rising demand in high-end neighborhoods and increased land and house prices.
