Deputy President Kithure Kindiki chaired the 30th Ordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC), focusing on pending bills and El Niño preparedness.

18 counties, along with urban centers like Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, are identified as vulnerable to El Niño impacts.
The council is addressing the Sh156.84 billion in pending bills across 47 counties as of June 30.
Kindiki urged county governments to collaborate with the national government on disaster prevention and to clear drainage systems and identify vulnerable communities.
