A new report from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) reveals that Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are the most dangerous days on Kenyan roads, with a significant increase in road traffic victims observed in July 2026 compared to the previous year.

  • Weekends accounted for over half of all road accidents in July 2026, with the period between 7 pm and 9 pm identified as particularly high-risk, especially the hour between 8 pm and 9 pm which saw 37 fatalities.
  • The NTSA, in collaboration with the National Police Service (NPS), is intensifying enforcement and public education campaigns to address these concerning trends, which saw a 9.78% increase in total road traffic victims.
