Despite steep price increases, consumption of cooking gas (LPG) in Kenya grew by over 10 percent in the six months to June 2026.

• Consumers used 248.82 thousand tonnes of LPG, a 10.82 percent increase from the previous year.
• This resilience in demand occurred even as prices for a 13kg cylinder rose by Sh360 to an average of Sh3,500.
• The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (Epra) attributes the growth to policy interventions under the National LPG Growth Strategy and increased competition from new importers like Lake Gas and Taifa Gas.
