The National Treasury has proposed new regulations to formally introduce access fees on the eCitizen platform, replacing the previous convenience fees. The aim is to establish a legal framework for managing and financing the digital government services portal.

• These fees will finance the operation, maintenance, and management of the eCitizen system.
• Concerns were raised by MPs regarding potential over-delegation of powers to the Cabinet Secretary and the need for clear qualification requirements for committee appointments.
