Kenya's inflation rate has climbed for the second consecutive month, reaching 6.6% in August, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

• The average consumer prices were 6.6% higher in August 2026 compared to August 2025.
• The rise was primarily driven by increased costs in food and non-alcoholic beverages (9%), transport (15.7%), and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.6%).
• Despite a fall in the price of sifted maize flour, kales, Irish potatoes, and beef with bones saw price increases.
