The Kenya Editors Guild is demanding a thorough investigation into the reported abduction of The Standard Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich, who has since been found safe.

• The Guild is also calling for an investigation into claims that a vehicle used in an earlier attempted interception of Kiprotich was traced to the National Police Service’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.
• Alex Kiprotich, an Associate Editor at The Standard Group, was reportedly abducted by armed men and later found near Masinga Dam.
• The Guild cited an earlier incident on June 27 involving an attempted interception of Kiprotich and the assault of two Agence France-Presse journalists in Kisumu as evidence of a troubling environment for journalists.
