Tanzania’s First Gentleman, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, was laid to rest in Kizimkazi, South Unguja on Monday, following his passing earlier that day.

• The funeral was attended by numerous senior political and religious leaders from Tanzania, including President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
• Kenya was represented by Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho and Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi.
• Hafidh Ameir Hassan, born in 1946, was a former teacher and farmer, and is survived by two widows, four children, and 15 grandchildren.
