Kenyan nurses are poised to end a five-week strike following an agreement with the Council of Governors (CoG) that includes a significant allowance increase.

Nurses are set to receive an additional Ksh13,000, comprised of Ksh8,000 in risk allowance and Ksh5,000 in uniform allowance.
The deal was announced by CoG chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi during the National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 8.
The agreement aims to resolve grievances including the 2017 Return-to-Work Agreement and the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), with a review of allowances planned for 2027.
