Android has launched a new tool enabling users to seamlessly transfer saved passwords and passkeys between different password managers, starting September 10, 2026.

• This new transfer process eliminates the need for manual export files, simplifying the transition for users of services like Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden, and Dashlane.
• The feature operates on Android 8 and newer devices, with the transfer authenticated by the user's existing password manager via fingerprint, face, or PIN.
• Underpinning this functionality is the FIDO Alliance's Credential Exchange Format, a standard designed for secure credential migration, though Apple had previously implemented a similar feature in iOS 26 in September 2025.
