The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has issued a stern warning to employers regarding the timely remittance of deducted student loan contributions.

• Employers are mandated to remit all HELB loan deductions by the 15th of every month.
• Failure to comply can result in penalties, including a KSh3,000 monthly penalty per affected employee and a 5% penalty on unpaid deductions.
• This requirement is part of HELB's employer obligations: disclose, deduct, and discharge loan repayments.
