A Kenyan court has refused to dismiss content creator Foi Wambui from a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by singer Mutoriah over the unauthorized use of his song "Beta" in an advertisement for the OPPO Reno 12 5G.

• Foi Wambui is required to face a full trial alongside OPPO Kenya and the agency Aifluence Limited.
• The song "Beta," released in 2023, was used as a soundtrack for a skit promoting the OPPO Reno 12 5G in August 2024.
• Mutoriah is seeking damages for the alleged infringement of his music rights, as no synchronization license was reportedly obtained for the advert.
