The mother of slain Sharon Otieno, Melinda Auma, has pleaded with the High Court to spare former Migori Governor Okoth Obado a prison sentence, fearing it could lead to another death in her family.

• Melinda Auma asked Justice Cecilia Githua for a non-custodial sentence, stating her family has forgiven Obado.
• Obado was convicted of the murder of his former girlfriend, Sharon Otieno, who was seven months pregnant when she was killed in September 2018.
• Sharon Otieno left behind three children who are currently being raised by their grandmother.
