Nairobi region consumed nearly half of Kenya’s electricity in the year ended June 2026, with demand increasing across all regions, according to new data from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

• Nairobi accounted for 43.92 percent of the country’s total electricity consumption, using 5,465.36 GWh.
• The EPRA report highlights the region's high demand due to its large population and industrial concentration.
• The Coastal Region was the second-largest consumer, representing 17.74 percent of national consumption.
