Kenyan child trafficking networks are using sophisticated and often subtle methods to lure vulnerable children, with initial contact frequently appearing as legitimate opportunities.

• Children are often approached online via social media, offered jobs, financial incentives, or promises of safety and education.
• Cases highlighted include children from Subukia contacted through Facebook and teens from Mombasa who disappeared and later surfaced in Nairobi.
• Researchers have documented instances where transport fare was provided, making the initial step seem less like a trap and more like an escape for children from struggling households.
