The Port of Lamu has achieved a significant milestone by handling approximately 5,200 TEUs from a single vessel, MV Hamouna, showcasing its growing container handling capacity.

• The port discharged 5,200 TEUs, the highest volume handled from a single ship at Lamu.
• Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Captain William Ruto highlighted this achievement, noting it surpasses even Mombasa Port's single-ship discharge record.
• This transshipment activity demonstrates Lamu Port's potential as a future hub, especially with the development of the LAPSSET Corridor.
