Kenyan Teams Compete in International Kabaddi, Rugby, Deaflympics, and Basketball Tournaments

Kenya's national teams are competing in several international tournaments across different sports. The women's Kabaddi squad has arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for the 2nd Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, which runs from November 17–24 with 12 nations participating. In Nairobi, the Kenya Lionesses are set to face Zimbabwe in the quarter-finals of the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens after dominant preliminary wins. The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women's basketball team secured a spot in the 2025 Women Basketball League Africa (WBLA) final in Cairo, Egypt, after an 89-81 overtime win against Burundi’s Les Hippos. Additionally, Kenya's women's basketball and men's handball teams began their campaigns at the Tokyo 2025 Summer Deaflympics in Japan.

Kenya Outlines Goals for LA 2028 Olympics and Prepares to Host World Taekwondo Championships

Kenyan sports federations have announced ambitious plans for future international events. The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) unveiled goals for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, aiming for a minimum of 10 gold medals and increased Kenyan representation in more disciplines. Echoing this ambition, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) expressed its optimism about the Harambee Starlets qualifying for the same 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This goal follows the Junior Starlets' historic participation in the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. In addition to Olympic preparations, Kenya is set to host the World Under-21 Taekwondo Championships in Nairobi, with 80 countries already confirmed to participate.
