Kenyan Athletes Compete in and Prepare for Major Sporting Events
Kenyan athletes are making headlines across multiple sports. Five Kenyan golfers, including amateurs Michael Karanga and John Lejirma, received a Sh 3.2 million sponsorship from Betika ahead of the 57th Magical Kenya Open at the Karen Golf and Country Club. In skiing, 18-year-old Issa Gachiringi Laborde Fit Pere made history at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics by becoming the youngest Kenyan to qualify for a second round. In athletics, Olympic and world 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi finished fourth at the Sirikwa World Cross Country Tour in Eldoret but remains confident for the season. Domestically, AFC Leopards SC captain Victor Omune is leading the team's push to win the Kenyan Premier League, a title the club last won in 1998.
Managerial Changes at Tottenham and Nottingham Forest; Player Competition at Arsenal
Igor Tudor has been named interim manager at Tottenham, declaring the club's 16th-place Premier League position unacceptable and that there is "no time for excuses" amidst an injury crisis. In another appointment, Nottingham Forest has hired Vitor Pereira as their fourth manager of the season. Pereira, who previously worked with owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos, stated he trusts the owner despite the club's history of firing coaches. Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commented on the friendly rivalry between forwards Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke.
