Government Rolls Out Social Health Authority (SHA) and Registers 26.7 Million Kenyans - September 2025

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced that over 26.7 million Kenyans have registered for the Social Health Authority (SHA). President William Ruto announced the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through the SHA, fulfilling a pledge that Kenyans will no longer have to choose between food and healthcare. DP Kindiki also stated that Kenya is digitizing its healthcare system. This initiative aims to combat fraud and improve efficiency within the sector. The registration numbers highlight widespread participation in the new health scheme.
