National ambulance dispatch centre launch
Ruto launches National Ambulance Dispatch Centre in Nairobi - August 2026
President William Ruto officially launched the National Ambulance Dispatch Centre and the 922 emergency line in Nairobi, describing the new system as one that will work in every corner of Kenya. He previously launched a single national toll-free medical emergency line aimed at transforming emergency healthcare access. However, healthcare workers continue industrial action across multiple counties, with patients in Kakamega urging the government to resolve the nurses strike. The Kenya Union of Nurses called for urgent dialogue to end the ongoing nationwide strike, while nurses and doctors in Nyamira County were advised to immediately end their strike and return to work.
