Former Zambian President Edgar Lungu will be buried in South Africa, according to his family, following an ending of the national mourning period by President Hakainde Hichilema.

• This marks the first instance of a former head of state being buried outside of Zambia

Nancy Macharia, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers' Service Commission (TSC), has been nominated as the Chairperson of the Murang'a County Public Service Board.

• Macharia was nominated alongside four others on June 18, 2025, by Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata.
• The nominations are subject to approval by the County Assembly within 21 days.
• If approved, Macharia and her colleagues will serve for the next five years, marking her transition from TSC where she retired on June 30, 2025.
