Ten Kenyan universities have been accused of submitting false student data to the Ministry of Health to secure internship placements for their medical students.

• The universities include Kenyatta University, Daystar University, and Kenya Methodist University, among others.
• Aden Duale, Health Cabinet Secretary, announced the establishment of an Internship Coordination Unit to enhance accountability in medical intern placements.
• The Ministry is also developing a digital platform for internship applications to improve data verification and compliance.

A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at the dormitory of Bishop Ndingi High School, leaving 150 students without accommodation but fortunately causing no injuries.

• Tuesday, July 22 incident destroyed property of unknown value, including beds and personal belongings.
• David Tegutwa, Mwala Deputy County Commissioner, confirmed that the fire started while students were in morning prep.
• The school, located near Mwala Town in Machakos County, has an enrolment of approximately 287 students and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
