Ten Kenyan universities have been accused of submitting false student data to the Ministry of Health to secure internship placements for their medical students.

The universities include Kenyatta University, Daystar University, and Kenya Methodist University, among others.
Aden Duale, Health Cabinet Secretary, announced the establishment of an Internship Coordination Unit to enhance accountability in medical intern placements.
The Ministry is also developing a digital platform for internship applications to improve data verification and compliance.
