Nigeria Exits 2024 CHAN as Host Kenya's FKF Faces Fines - August 2025
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is facing Sh12.8 million (USD 98,500) in fines from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for safety and security breaches during the 2024 African Nations Championship (Chan). Meanwhile, the Nigeria Super Eagles have been eliminated from the tournament with one match remaining after a 4-0 loss to Sudan and an earlier 1-0 defeat to Senegal. Despite challenges, East African football fans are optimistic about the CHAN trophy remaining in the region due to significant cash incentives promised by their respective presidents to boost team morale and performance.
