Apple, Google & Xiaomi Address Device Software Updates - August 2025

Apple has released emergency updates, including iOS 18.6.2 and iPadOS 18.6.2, to fix a critical security vulnerability identified as CVE-2025-43300. This flaw, located in ImageIO, is being actively exploited and allows hackers to gain full device access through a malicious image without user interaction. Separately, the Phone by Google app received a Material 3 Expressive update, a significant design overhaul that has divided users in Kenya and globally. While Google aimed for a simpler calling experience, many users expressed frustration with the new interface. In other update news, Xiaomi announced that several Redmi, POCO, and Xiaomi devices will stop receiving major software updates after HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 15. This marks the final significant update for these models, as they will not receive Android 16.
