New Digital Platforms and Investments Target Kenya's Broadband and Music Sectors - August 2025
TikTok has launched TikTok for Artists in Kenya, providing a centralized platform for musicians to track song performance and optimize music release campaigns to bolster the country's music economy. In a separate development, the Africa Broadband Mapping Systems Project (BPMAPS) was launched in Nairobi, with Kenya selected as one of 11 African countries to benefit. This EU, ITU, and CA-backed initiative aims to close Africa’s digital divide by guiding broadband infrastructure investment through data-driven mapping. Additionally, Finnfund, the Finnish development financier, announced a $4 million debt investment in Kenya’s Poa Internet. This funding is intended to expand the company's network capacity and provide affordable broadband to underserved areas.
