Mass Grave Discoveries in Kilifi Prompt Criticism as Exhumations are Suspended - August 2025

Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo has criticized the government and the National Intelligence Service (NIS) for an alleged failure to prevent deaths as mass graves continue to be discovered in Kilifi. At one of the sites, Kwa Binzaro, the exhumation of bodies has been suspended to allow for postmortem examinations of the remains. These events are happening more than two years after the Shakahola Forest massacre, also in Kilifi, where victims' families are still grappling with pain and unanswered questions.
