Patients are expressing dissatisfaction with SHA health insurance, particularly concerning limits on specialized treatment coverage that force them to pay out of pocket in counties like Kisii and Nakuru. The SHA has also been criticized for poor healthcare service delivery at the Nakuru County Referral Hospital. Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged the government to immediately reconsider the SHA's funding model, asserting that it has severely impacted hospital services and even led to some closures.
