Delayed Release of Capitation Funds to Schools; Only 3,000 of 32,000 Paid - September 2025
School heads across Kenya are expressing widespread frustration over the continued delayed release of government capitation funds. According to reports, only 3,000 out of 32,000 registered schools in Kenya have so far received funding for education. The Ministry of Education has announced efforts to release the funds, and Education Principal Secretary Professor Julius Bitok stated the ministry is currently reviewing documents for the remaining schools. Meanwhile, government-allied Members of Parliament have defended the delay, attributing it to ongoing anti-graft efforts and have urged school heads to cooperate with the verification process.
