The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has revealed new details concerning the fatal shooting of two individuals, Kennedy Ojuma and Stephen Mwendwa, by an off-duty DCI officer in Makongeni, Thika, on Sunday. The incident occurred after a minor traffic accident, challenging earlier reports that the victims were merely onlookers.

• The involved officer is attached to the DCI Headquarters Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit.
• The shooting happened at approximately 5:30 am near Makongeni Police Station, in the presence of on-duty police officers, who subsequently disarmed and detained the DCI officer.
• IPOA has obtained crucial documents and recorded statements from nine police officers, seeking 21-day custodial orders for the officer to complete investigations, including ballistics and CCTV footage analysis.

Police have arrested ten suspects in connection with a violent attack on Emakale Police Post in Matungu Sub-County, Kakamega County. The group allegedly stormed the post, raided an officer’s house, and destroyed public documents and personal property.
