Former nominated United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Senator Gloria Orwoba has withdrawn her petition challenging her removal from the Senate at the Milimani Constitutional and Human Rights Division. Her lawyer, Ombaso, informed Justice Chacha Mwita of the withdrawal, leading to the closure of the case.

• Orwoba initially sought to quash a gazette notice dated May 21, 2025, declaring her position vacant.
• She had also requested conservatory orders to block the swearing-in of her successor, Consolata Wabwire.
• The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal had previously quashed UDA's decision to expel Orwoba on August 20, citing procedural irregularities.

The High Court has halted the progression of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which aimed to enshrine the NG-CDF kitty into the Constitution, preventing its forwarding to President William Ruto for assent.

• On Thursday, September 18, Justice Lawrence Mugambi issued conservatory orders, also stipulating that if assented to, the assent would not take effect until a petition by the Katiba Institute is determined.
• The High Court directed Chief Justice Martha Koome to empanel an uneven bench of judges to hear the petition.
• The Katiba Institute argued the Bill is superfluous, inconsistent with the Constitution, and would require a referendum.

The High Court has extended orders preventing the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from arresting or prosecuting Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi over graft allegations until October 8, 2025.

• A conservatory order was first issued on July 24 by Justice Chacha Mwita, temporarily barring arrest or charges.
• The EACC raided Governor Wamatangi's home and offices on April 15, arresting nine other senior county officials.
• The officials deny all allegations, claiming the arrest is part of a political campaign to undermine Wamatangi's administration.
