All Counties Found with Unauthorized Bank Accounts; Governors Face EACC Probe - September 2025

Budget Controller Margaret Nyakang'o has revealed that all counties in Kenya have been operating unauthorized bank accounts. A recent audit confirmed the existence of thousands of these unauthorized accounts, which poses a major corruption risk. This has been highlighted as a significant financial oversight across all counties. In a related development, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to investigate several Kenyan governors. The investigation is focused on the alleged misuse of the county-level ‘Hustler’ Fund.
