• The project, implemented by Kenya Power and the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Commission (REREC), has already completed 1,301,938 new connections in the past three years.
• President William Ruto announced that households will receive free electricity connections, including meters, only paying a monthly bill.
• The program, financed by the government, African Development Bank (AfDB), and World Bank, charges Ksh15,000 per connection, with payments deducted from 50 percent of token charges.
