Political Reactions and Tributes Following the Death of Raila Odinga - October 2025

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will take disciplinary action against Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga for remarks he made regarding the demise of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire confirmed the action after Kahiga claimed Raila's death would be a "blessing" for the Mt Kenya region. Following the political uncertainty since Raila Odinga's passing, the United Opposition has publicly invited the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to join its ranks. Meanwhile, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar has proposed establishing the Raila Odinga School of Government at the University of Nairobi. This proposal is part of deliberations on how to honour the legacy of the former Prime Minister, who passed away on October 15.
