Senator Cherargei Criticized for Endorsing Abduction of Kenyan Activists - November 2025
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has drawn criticism for remarks made at a church in Kapsabet supporting the abduction of Kenyan activists in neighboring countries. He reportedly endorsed the abduction and mistreatment of activists Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo in Uganda. Cherargei controversially urged neighboring countries to "deal firmly" with activists and repatriate them, stating, "Finya hawa watu, warudishe nyumbani tuwamalizie" (Crush these people, send them back home so we can finish them). He also stated that Kenya should impose harsher penalties on them. His comments have been criticized by the church.
