Kenya Hosts Sporting Events and Embarks on Long-Term Athlete Development - November 2025
Kenya is preparing for and hosting several key sporting events and qualifiers across the country. The nation is set to host the 2025 Africa Women’s Sevens Cup at RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, with the Kenya Lionesses squad already announced and co-captained by Grace Okulu and Janet Okello. In basketball, the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is playing in the semifinals of the Zone Five qualifiers at the Nyayo Gymnasium, seeking a slot in the 2025 WBLA finals. The national boxing team, Hit Squad, is also preparing for the Elite World Men Boxing Championships, with training set to begin after the National Boxing League's final leg in Kisumu. Looking to the future, NOC-K hosted a conference in Machakos to help sports federations prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. In domestic football, KCB faces Bidco United in a SportPesa Premier League match at Kasarani Annex. Additionally, construction of the Talanta City Stadium is now 66 per cent complete.
