Vodacom and ATOMNIA Expand African Connectivity; Safaricom Addresses M-PESA Bug - November 2025
Vodacom Group has partnered with Elon Musk's Starlink to provide high-speed satellite broadband across Africa by integrating Starlink's satellite technology into Vodacom's mobile network infrastructure. This collaboration aims to bridge the continent's digital divide. In a separate effort to improve African connectivity, the Belgian firm ATOMNIA is expanding its secure connectivity solution, OMNIA, with support from the Wallonia Export and Investment Agency. This expansion, announced in Cape Town, targets connectivity challenges in remote African locations. Meanwhile, in Kenya, Safaricom has acknowledged a widespread bug affecting the Lipa na M-PESA functionality within its SIM Toolkit menu, which interrupts user transactions. The company has confirmed that a fix is in the works.
