Police are investigating three suspected suicide incidents reported on Sunday, December 14, 2025, across Nyandarua, Migori, and Vihiga counties, involving individuals aged between 15 and 65 years.

• In Nyandarua County, Douglas Kimemia Ngerere, a 57-year-old man and casual labourer, was found dead in a borehole at Kahingo village after going missing on December 11.
• A 15-year-old pupil from Otacho Primary School in Migori County died by suicide at Otacho village, reportedly after being denied permission to go to church by his mother.
• In Vihiga County, Jotham Ong’ayo Inyirinya, a 65-year-old man, was found hanging in his house in Lwobela village with no visible physical injuries or a suicide note.

A police officer in Laikipia West shot and killed a civilian before taking his own life in a suspected love triangle incident at Ndurumo Trading Centre on December 14.

• Two individuals, Police Constable Peter Macharia Mwangi and civilian Benson Kipkemboi Chirchir (aged 29), died in the incident.
• The officer used his official G3 rifle, first shooting Chirchir inside the Westgate Pool Table Shop, then returning to the police post to die by suicide at his residence doorstep.
• Investigators from Rumuruti Police Station and the DCI Laikipia West are handling the case, with bodies moved to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations.

A 15-year-old pupil from Otacho Primary School tragically died by suicide in Migori after a disagreement with his mother over attending church. His body was discovered by family members hanging from a mango tree at their home.

• The incident was reported on December 14, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m. by the boy's father, Ayub Odhiambo Odiero.
• Police in Migori and detectives from DCI Suna East are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
