ODM Governor Proposes Early Coalition Talks with Ruto's UDA as Wiper MPs Vow Opposition - December 2025

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir, a top Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) official, has proposed an early pre-election coalition with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Nassir, who is an ODM deputy party leader, has called for formal coalition talks to begin ahead of the 2027 General Election, warning against late negotiations. In contrast to this proposal, Wiper Party Members of Parliament have issued a stern warning to President Ruto, cautioning him against verbally attacking their leader, Kalonzo Musyoka. The MPs, predominantly from Kitui County, assert that the opposition's primary goal is to unseat Ruto in the 2027 elections.
