Multiple Fatal Road Accidents Reported in Machakos and Nakuru Counties - January 2026

Fourteen people have died in two separate road accidents that occurred in Machakos and Nakuru counties. The death toll from a road accident in Katumani on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway has risen to eight, following the deaths of two more individuals at Machakos Level 5 Hospital. In Nakuru County, a separate tragic road accident in Kikopey, Gilgil, has resulted in the deaths of six people. The death toll in the Kikopey accident also rose after one victim succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment. NTV Kenya highlighted a concerning return of fatalities on Kenyan roads in 2026.
