Politicians Make Moves for 2027 General Election - January 2026
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced his intention to contest the 2027 General Election against President William Ruto. Gachagua has also urged the opposition to unite behind a single candidate to challenge the President. In Uasin Gishu County, President Ruto criticized the opposition, accusing them of lacking a clear agenda and cautioning youth against being manipulated. Meanwhile, several ODM politicians held meetings in Nairobi as the party prepares for next year's elections. These meetings followed a call for party unity, though ODM member Kasmuel McOure also addressed internal divisions within the Chungwa party concerning the 2027 elections.
