Challenges Emerge During Grade 10 Student Enrollment - January 2026

As the enrollment of Grade 10 students into secondary schools entered its third day, several challenges have been reported. Residents of Kajiado County are calling on the government to construct additional classrooms due to inadequate infrastructure to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). In Samburu County, parents are lamenting the high costs associated with their children joining secondary schools. Meanwhile, several C4-category high schools in Machakos County have not registered any Grade 10 students, raising concerns about inequality in the implementation of the new curriculum.
