The Global Conservation Tech and Drone Forum (GCTDF 2026) will host the inaugural Women in Conservation Forum (WiCF) on Monday, March 2, 2026, in Nairobi, highlighting the crucial role of women in conservation across Kenya and Africa.

• The forum is supported by key partners including the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Action Labs, with funding from The Wildlife Society and Island Foundation.
• Arnolda Shiundu, Chair of the Kenya Wildlife Trust, emphasized the importance of women's leadership, stating, “Having a seat at the table and influencing decisions isn’t just a conservation issue, it’s a life issue."
• The event will include mentorship workshops, keynote sessions, professional development workshops, and networking, aiming to foster collaboration among practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.

Kenya's Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has urged County Governments to enhance tourism promotion to achieve ambitious targets of 5.5 million international visitors and Sh1.1 trillion in revenue by 2028.

• Miano emphasized that counties are crucial for unlocking tourism potential by promoting diverse local attractions.
• Africa received only 5.3 percent of global arrivals in 2024, with Kenya seeing 2.4 million visitors, highlighting significant untapped opportunities.
• The initiative aims to strengthen the "Magical Kenya Brand" and reposition Kenya as a vibrant, year-round destination, while also supporting youth employment and entrepreneurial growth.

President William Ruto has nominated Francis Meja, former Director-General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), as the next Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC). His nomination has been sent to the National Assembly for vetting.

• Meja is currently a Commissioner at the PSC, having joined in January last year.
• He previously served as the founding Director-General of NTSA and Registrar of Motor Vehicles at the Ministry of Transport.
• Meja brings over 15 years' experience in banking, including senior management roles at Equity Bank Kenya PLC and the Housing Finance Company of Kenya (HFCK).
• He is set to replace Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, who was recently appointed Kenya's ambassador to Turkey.
