Kenya Prepares for World Boxing, Cross Country, and 2027 AFCON Events - January 2026
Former WBC women's Super bantamweight champion Fatuma Zarika is set to revive her boxing career and challenge for a world title following a multi-million shillings sponsorship from SportPesa. In athletics, Kenya is holding selection trials for the World Universities Cross Country Championships team this Saturday, March 2, at Southern Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) in Kitui. The trials aim to select 16 athletes to represent the country in the championships scheduled for March 14-15 in Italy. Furthermore, a CAF team is set to inspect stadiums in Kenya next month. This inspection is part of the nation's preparations to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) with Uganda and Tanzania.
