Police Shoot Three People in Huruma During Protests Over Student's Death - February 2026

Three individuals were shot by police in Nairobi's Huruma estate during protests following the shooting death of Shirley Achieng, a KMTC student. The shooting occurred as police confronted a group of protesters, leading to day-long clashes between residents and law enforcement. A victim, Leila Roba, recounted the terrifying moments when she and two others were shot by a police officer in the Huruma neighborhood. Roba is currently recovering from injuries sustained during the incident.
