Kenya's government has significantly reallocated funds within the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) budget, reducing spending on the existing Mombasa–Naivasha line to boost the delayed Malaba extension project.

• Ksh14 billion has been added to the Naivasha to Malaba SGR extension, increasing its total allocation for the financial year to approximately Ksh30 billion.
• The Kenyan Treasury has enacted these changes in the first supplementary budget.
