MPs, IEBC Meeting to Set New Rules for 2027 Elections - March 2026
Members of Parliament and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) are meeting in Mombasa from March 31 to April 3 to set new rules for the 2027 General Election, a pivotal election where President William Ruto is seeking a second and final term. The United Opposition is demanding IEBC terminate its contract with electoral management firm Smartmatic, citing concerns over the integrity of the 2027 General Election. Kenyan political parties including ODM are also facing internal strife ahead of important National Delegates Conventions, events historically known for birthing or ending political careers.
