The Ministry of Lands has announced a 12-month waiver on interest and penalties for outstanding loans issued under Kenya’s Land Settlement Fund.

• Beneficiaries can now clear only the principal loan amounts without additional charges during the moratorium period from February 13, 2026 to February 14, 2027.
• The waiver was announced by Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome.
• This initiative aims to assist settlers and individual plot owners in resolving their land ownership and development, with 520 settlement schemes currently active across 26 counties.

The Telposta Pension Scheme (TPS) will sell part of its extensive property assets to improve cash flow and ensure timely pension payments to its members. This strategic move comes as TPS aims to comply with the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) guidelines and address liquidity issues caused by significant property investments.

• Approximately 80 percent of TPS investments are currently in property, exceeding the RBA's recommended 30 percent limit.

President William Ruto has pledged to intervene and restore properties allegedly fraudulently disinherited from the late former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua's family. This comes after the family sent a letter to the President seeking his assistance.

• President Ruto vowed to return the properties, including a hotel in Nairobi and a house in Kilifi, to the rightful beneficiaries.
• The appeal was made by the immediate family of the late Governor Nderitu Gachagua, who allege fraud and forgery in the management of his estate.
• Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, brother of the late governor, has dismissed the allegations, stating the succession was conducted legally according to the will.
