Nurses Threaten Strike Over Maalim Hate Speech Remarks - April 2026
The National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNAK) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Dadaab MP Farah Maalim to issue a public apology for alleged hate speech made in Parliament regarding nurses in leadership roles. Separately, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has reported a significant surge in voter registration, registering 875,501 new voters within the first 10 days of its Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, which commenced on March 30. Residents of Kibra, Westlands, Kilimani, and Dagoretti have also issued a 14-day ultimatum to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to halt the planned degazettement of the Capitol Hill Police Station.
