Kalonzo Claims Assassination Attempt After Police Disrupt Kikuyu Convoy - April 2026
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has alleged an assassination attempt after police reportedly opened fire on an opposition convoy heading to a rally in Kikuyu. This incident follows escalating political violence in the region. Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wah has separately called for the immediate arrest of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of orchestrating violence in Kikuyu Town and along the Nairobi Southern Bypass. Meanwhile, the Niko Kadi voter registration initiative in Kitale was disrupted when armed individuals infiltrated the event, with organizers blaming politicians for orchestrating the chaos. The Linda Mwananchi group, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, is also demanding the arrest and resignation of Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omolo following an attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu.
