Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has alleged an assassination attempt after police reportedly opened fire on an opposition convoy heading to a rally in Kikuyu.

The convoy, carrying Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua (DCP leader), and Eugene Wamalwa (DAP-K leader), was allegedly intercepted and fired upon with live ammunition and teargas at the Gitaru–Kikuyu Interchange.
The incident occurred on April 11, the day before the statement was released.
Kalonzo Musyoka described the event as a "sustained and deliberate operation" and a "deliberate assassination attempt," noting that media crews were also targeted, with some suffering injuries.
